Can alcohol from bottles in hotel suites carry diseases?

Hi everyone,

I got a question here that's been bugging me for a while. You know those hotel suites like in Vegas, where you got a bar in the room with all kinds of drinks you can have? My question is, whenever I am in one of those suites I keep thinking if there is chance viruses and diseases could be transferred in alcohol containing bottles/glasses?

In general can you get disease from an alcohol drink? Do viruses survive in alcohol?

Thanks so much guys! I didn't find any good info on the web, these days it's like a waste of time to go on a search engine. I needed a good answer and I know I always get one here!

I appreciate you guys! Can alcohol from bottles in hotel suites carry diseases?
Hospitals use alcohol swabs for sterilisation for a reason - that's because alcohol kills infectious diseases and viruses. If you can afford the high prices that those mini bars charge then I'd say you would actually be doing yourself a favour by drinking the baby bottle of alcohol. Can alcohol from bottles in hotel suites carry diseases?
I am not sure where you are going with this. Viruses could be anywhere, on surfaces, in food, liquids etc. But they can't survive long outside of a host, and in any case they aren't living organisms. So alcohol may reduce their potency but it can't kill them since they aren't alive to start with.

Viruses are more often passed by hand to hand contact, and through bodily fluids such as when someone coughs or sneezes.
It depends on the following:

1. Where was the drink made/maufactured and bottled (is it some weird small place in a far away place like brazil)?

2. If the seal on the bottle is broken, who knows who did what with that bottle.

3. Quality of the hotel.

In general if its a good brand, a clean hotel and the bottle is new it ought to be okay.

Its logic dude...
No more or less from any other bottle of alcohol. It's a sealed container, if you're willing to drink from a bottle of whiskey from a liquor store, you'll be fine.
The alcohol that you drink kills germs also. If the bottle has bacteria on it the alcohol will kill it :). No worries, It's actually has less bacteria than their water! Nissa
In the alcohol itself, no.

But it can live on the bottle, and be transfered to you...
Alchol kills viruses...you'll be fine. Drink up!
